FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE FREEDOM UNIVERSAL

The Freedom Universal as well as related ideas on this website have undergone extensive revision and further development since the website was first launched in late 2005. These important new developments are not yet reflected on this website.

The Freedom Universal as currently described on this website is one component of the complete solution for creating a free, just, and prosperous society. Creating a better society requires two essential building blocks:

  1. A solution for how such a society is to function (a destination model)
  2. A solution for getting us from where we are to where we want to be (a transition model)

This website, as it currently stands, describes a partial solution to these problems: The Freedom Universal offers a powerful new constitutional framework that cuts through the special interests that perpetuate the status quo and resist movement towards a freer society. Addressing the problem of coercive special interests helps clear the way for building a better society.

However, that still leaves open the question of just what a truly free society would look like and how it would function in practice. A solution to this question, based on a new model of social governance first articulated by Spencer Heath, has been developed, but is not yet described on this website. Heath's model represents a fundamental solution to the age-old problem of social governance—the problem of cooperation/coordination (the prisoners' dilemma)—thereby addressing several subproblems including the problem of externalities, the tragedy of the commons, and the problem of special interests in a novel and elegant way. The solution operates by aligning individual interests and community interests in a way that naturally produces social optima, and is informed by the accelerating entrepreneurial transformation of global society to the proprietary communities of the future, which marks an exciting new chapter in the evolution of society.

This new governance system has the added advantage of not only being a destination model, but also a highly practical transition model that is already proving itself in practice. It places its primary emphasis on building the good (voluntary communities) through entrepreneurial economic means, rather than on reducing the bad (coercive social institutions) through bureaucratic political means. This deep shift in perspective allows for more realistic and empowering strategies for social transformation.

The website is being completely rewritten and redesigned to reflect these new developments, and to be more accessible and attractive to a broad audience. The new website will be streamlined with a focus on the Freedom Universal's benefits, and practical, profitable ways for citizens and entrepreneurs to bring these benefits to their communities.
